Kinky Boots is pure joy. The messages of pride and acceptance as well as the fabulous platform the show gives to the LGBT+ community are what makes this show so special. No doubt this show has a bold choice and a huge undertaking, but it is exactly the sort of thing that needs to be showcased in Durham.

I have always been a massive fan of the art of Drag and am so excited to have it platformed in such a celebratory way in this show. I have had so much fun working with Freddy on my vision for the Angels, trying to expand upon the already vast amount of drag representation in the show by experimenting with more updated drag styles, drag kings, club kids and pop culture reference points wound into every look, even the glorious boots.

Working on this show has been a dream, with an incredible cast that I cannot thank enough for bringing my vision to life quite so perfectly. I also cannot thank the production team enough, led by the wonderful Emily Jupe, they have been technical wizards accommodating all of my set and tech ideas, always making every aspect of the show sparkle just that little bit more. Lastly, I cannot express my gratitude for the wonderful creative team I have around me, especially Xanthe, Will and Freya for all together making this the best creative team I have ever been a part (the invincible core 4). They have all worked so hard on making all the choreo sharp and the harmonies tight and have worked tirelessly to make the show the resounding success we all knew it could be.

So sit back and enjoy the high heeled, high energy wonderland that is Kinky Boots, and remember, ‘If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell you gonna love somebody else?’
