Roll on Michaelmas 2021!!
DST Freshers Play 2021: The Crucible
Each year in Michaelmas term, DST produces a Freshers Play. This is a show entirely acted, directed, produced and teched by our 1st year members. Our choice for this year is Arthur Miller’s Classic The Crucible. Based on the Salem Witch Trails of 1692–93, the play functions as an allegory for McCarthyism in 50s America and explores themes of corruption, hysteria and justice. Applications and Auditions will take place in the first weeks of term so do keep an eye on our social media for more details on how to get invovled!
How are we operating in COVID?
Our plans are always developing as we start looking towards the upcoming term. We have numerous different approaches to our daily running in 2021: we are offering socially distanced in-person performances, online streaming, pre-recoded shows and audio dramas. Our venues are COVID secure and our staging distanced.
“Durham Student Theatre provides you with so many opportunities to let you grow as a creative. From videography to costume-making, there’s always a community or a company to demonstrate your talents. You all shape DST so push for what you want and let’s put on some amazing, unique, show-stopping productions!”
