Welcome to Durham Student Theatre
Durham Student Theatre (DST) is the home of theatre at Durham University. Durham has one of the most exciting student theatre scenes in the country, with over 100 productions annually and 30+ theatre companies. From Pinter to Porter, Shakespeare to Sondheim, there is no shortage of opportunities in DST!
Epiphany ‘25 was one of our busiest ever terms with 10 shows across 10 weeks in the Assembly Rooms Theatre, multiple performances in the professional Gala theatre, and 9 student-written plays performed in one week as part of Durham Drama Festival, as well as so much more.
Easter term is looking hugely exciting with a jam-packed Assembly Rooms programme, 48-hour productions, showcases, the launch of Castle Theatre Company’s annual Shakespeare tour (‘Twelfth Night’), and various other shows!

Get Involved
Our societies give amazing theatrical experiences alongside social, creative and outreach opportunities. Their theatrical niches range, but they all have an inclusive social scene to get involved in.
“Durham Student Theatre is a hubbub of creativity and excitement where we can proudly offer opportunities for everyone. From classical theatre to sketch comedy, from improvisation to opera there is an abundance of opportunities to get involved with depending on whichever niche tickles your fancy. You’ll meet glorious, glorious people and each term cultivates a multitude of theatre which is refreshing, innovative and utterly fabulous to both watch and be a part of. It’s alive and it’s wonderful. I am thrilled to be this year’s President and I could not be more excited to see everything in store next year!
