Presdient - Ben Johanson
(he/him)
I’m Ben Johanson, DST President for 2023/2024. My DST journey began during covid, doing zoom and radio plays. I soon was in the Assembly Rooms Theatre directing the Freshers play, where I fell through the trapdoor. One broken wrist later, and I have thrown myself into DST in every capacity. As president, I want to serve DST the best I am able. I will dedicate myself to providing opportunities for all and producing the best theatre we can. If you ever want to send me a message, my email and door are always open

Welfare and Inclusivity Officer - Rhyen Hunt
(she/they)
Hi I am Rhyen Hunt, a 3rd year studying international relations, and I am the Welfare and Inclusivity Officer for this year. I have been involved in DST both on and off stage for the past two years but my favorite way to be involved is to support the welfare of others. My role is to help adapt and create welfare and inclusivity guidelines, handle welfare issues that arise and overall try and maintain a healthy DST environment. I, along with a team of other welfare trained team members are available if shows or students need support or assistance. I’m super excited for this year and email [email protected]
Workshops Secretary - Abby Greenhalgh
(she/her)
Hi everyone! I am absolutely ecstatic to be your Workshop Secretary this year. After an amazing first year in DST I am so happy to be given the opportunity to give back to the society. I am here to oversee and give advice on the variety of workshops DST offers across all disciplines. Most of my focus goes towards workshop weekend which occurs in term 1 and involves an incredible team of professional, drama-school tutors giving workshops for those thinking of pursuing performing after University. My emails are always open for any advice on company-run Workshops and please let me know when they occur so I can repost on our DST Workshops instagram account!
Events Coordinator - Alannah O'Hare
(she/her)
Hi, I’m Alannah and I’m your new DST events officer for this year. I’m a second year English student at Mary’s and am super excited to plan some really fun, inclusive and varied events for you all! DST was the highlight of my first year, I met so many fantastic people thanks to the brilliant social side of DST and I can’t wait to help create more events this year. From themed parties to freshers events, DST families to D’Oscars, there will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to be involved and enjoy the social side of DST, away from the intensity of productions! This year, I really want to make events as welcoming and accessible as possible and hope to introduce a wider range of events, including more chill daytime socials, alcohol-free activities and events spread throughout first term aimed at freshers in order to make DST the most inclusive it can be! I hope to see you all soon at a DST event!

Whether you have concerns about paying for subs, need a hand writing a budget or just want advice on how to get the most out of your TC’s money, I’m here to help at [email protected] ! Festivals Secretary - Ayasha Nordiawan
(she/her)
My name is Ayasha, I’m a first year English Literature student from Castle! I am the DST Festival Secretary this year, which means that I am responsible of organising the Durham Drama Festival! First Night Editor - Harry Threapalton
(he/him)
Hello, I’m Harry! I’m a second year natural sciences student from grey college with a borderline obsession for all things drama and writing, and as a result I’m delighted to be this year’s First Night Editor. Throughout the year I’ll be contacting producers and putting out polls to put forward the many show reviewing opportunities available to the people of DST. It’s then my job to co-ordinate who reviews what show, edit the reviews, and publish them the next day. The wonderful thing about First Night is anybody can review a show, giving the reviewer a chance to have their name published and be a part of our community (as well as a free ticket) and the shows a great opportunity to promote themselves and receive audience feedback! If you’d like to review a show or you’d like your show to be reviewed then please reach out to me. I can’t wait to work with you all!
